We are an guerrilla crochet art project with the purpose to raise awareness for the issue of violence against women.
Stop violence against women!
The project was founded in November 2018 on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the following 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
We are using a traditionally feminine handcraft to spread the message in Tyrol. We crochet purple roses and place them visibly in public spaces.
The project Roses against violence is open for everybody to join. We mainly share pictures and like to connect with participants via Facebook for which we created the #rosesagainstviolence.
Since 2019 we are a registered association.
During the covid lockdown in spring 2020 we’ve started to use Instagram and use the #rosesagainstviolence there as well. Our movement has grown large in a very short time. Even better, we have many new partners who create and spread the roses against violence project worldwide.
You are welcome to become part of Roses Against Violence!
If you dont’t know how to crochet the roses, watch the video and make your own roses to spread the message in your area. If you like to make them in your own style feel free to do so and let your creativity flow.
Please take pictures of your roses on different places for Instagram or Facebook and tag them with the #rosesagainstviolence hashtag, that other women can see your roses.
Help to spread the message: Stop violence against women!
Have fun with the project and we hope to see your pictures soon.
